Jun 02, 2024

Are you a successful, high-achieving individual and you'd like to live a life of grreater significance, but you're playing it safe?

Then keep reading because it's time to step out of your comfort zone!

If you have aspirations to achieve something meaningful but you're playing it safe, then it might be time for you to take more risks. Taking risks is essential for you to grow.

According to Dictionary.com, to risk is to "expose (someone or something valued) to danger, harm, or loss."

By playing it safe, you can avoid rejection, embarrassment, loss, pain or inconveniences.

But you'll also miss your chance to win at a bigger level!

A few years ago, I found myself at a turning point in my life. And I was asking myself if I should stay in the corporate world or start a business (something I had been dreaming about for a few years). I felt scared at the prospect of relinquishing the security of the corporate world.  And I imagined and asked my 85-year old, future self. Her advice was unequivocal: "Do it! You don't want to live a life of regrets."

I realized that I had to move forward with at least trying!  And I jumped out of my comfort zone and into my future. And I knew there would be risks.

The years since that decision have been the most exhilarating years of my life, and that's because I have been forced to grow in ways I never imagined possible. I've had the opportunity to touch thousands of lives, helping me to feel like my work in the world in significant.

But there have also been losses, hardships, disappointments and mistakes along the way. And the truth is figuring out how to get through the challenges has been my greatest path to growth and inner fortitude.

"To live a life of excellence, you will have to take risks. You will have to step into new territory and climb new mountains," explained Debbie Ford in her book, The Best Year of Your Life:  Dream It, Plan It, Live It.

Most people are programmed to play it safe.  But to live a life of significance, you must step out of your comfort zone.

As Eleanor Roosevelt said, "You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face."

What's your vision for a life of significance? And what's one thing you can do this week to step out of your comfort zone and move you in the direction of your dream?
