Making Important Decisions

Dec 18, 2023

Would you like to move forward? And do you have some important decisions to make about your career or life, but perhaps you find yourself waiting to see what happens?

Waiting to see what happens is not a good way to make decisions. And that's because not to decide is to decide. Another way to look at this is to ask yourself, what are you choosing by neglecting to choose?

"Analysis of several hundred people who accumulated fortunes well beyond the million-dollar mark disclosed the fact that every one of them had the habit of reaching decisions promptly," wrote Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich (1).

Decision is a mental activity that will help you move forward. And the word decision is derived from Latin and means "a cutting off "(2). You might think of decision-making as "cutting off" other options.

The good news is that being decisive is a skill that can be developed with practice.

Your intuition can be a powerful tool in decision-making. When faced with a choice, take a moment to check in with yourself and see what your gut is telling you.

"It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped," said Tony Robbins.

Being decisive is not about making perfect choices every time, but about taking action and moving forward with confidence. So trust yourself!

What is one important decision you need to make this week?
