3 Steps to Celebrate Your Wins
Nov 27, 2023It's that time of year...we're in the home stretch of 2023 and the new year is only five weeks away!
But first, what are you most proud of in 2023?
Now is an excellent time to look back at the last year and reflect on your accomplishments.
And why, you ask? Because as Oprah Winfrey said, "The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” In other words, you build on your accomplishments and create momentum for sustainable (or even greater) success in the year ahead.
Here are three steps to help you celebrate your wins:
1) Make an appointment with yourself.
Schedule 30 minutes in the week ahead. Go ahead and put it in the calendar. Think of this as sacred time! Plan this "pause" as a short ritual to reflect on the past year. Maybe you'll want to get up earlier one morning or invite yourself to a coffee shop to avoid distractions.
2) Reflect back on 2023.
During your appointment with yourself, look back at the year. Perhaps you'll need to access your calendar, journal or other "memory" joggers to remind yourself about wins and milestones you reached. Look at your professional and personal life.
3) Ask yourself important questions, and be truthful with yourself.
What are 10 things you're most proud of?
Did you achieve the goals and objectives you set for yourself? (And if not, what got in the way?)
What are the top 3 insights you gained about yourself?
What did you learn from your mistakes?
What is no longer serving you? What do you need to release?
Importantly, the real purpose of goals is to grow. As you reflect on your accomplishments of the year, acknowledge your personal growth. Use that to fuel your momentum into 2024!
As Zig Ziglar said, “What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”
